What We Do
The American Conservation Foundation (ACF) is a Texas-based non-profit organization committed to the conservation, sustainable management, and protection of natural and community resources. ACF develops and implements innovative, science-based strategies that are practical, durable, and grounded in common sense.

Our mission is to support initiatives that safeguard native ecosystems, strengthen resilience to natural hazards and empower communities and private landowners to become active stewards of the land. Through a balanced approach that promotes environmental sustainability, public safety, and economic vitality, we aim to build stronger, more adaptable communities.

Our Projects
Texas Conservation Plan for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (TCP)
The American Conservation Foundation (ACF) is the Permit Holder for the Texas Conservation Plan (TCP) for the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard (DSL). This Permit provides upstream, midstream, and private landowners/operators with regulatory assurances in exchange for proactive land management practices aimed at minimizing impacts to the DSL’s habitat.

Leon River & Cowhouse Creek Watersheds Flood Mitigation Project
To help communities in the Leon River Watershed (LRW), Cowhouse Creek Watershed (CCW), and beyond, this project is developing advanced flood prediction tools and safety programs to improve early warnings, reduce damage, and enhance water planning. In collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Blackland Research and Extension Center, RRG Professional Engineering, the American Conservation Foundation (ACF) is working to assess flood risks, implement safety measures, and protect the region from future disasters.
Coryell County Community Wildlife Protection Plan (CWPP)
The American Conservation Foundation (ACF) developed the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for Coryell County, Texas, to reduce wildfire risk, protect property, and promote ecosystem health. Approved on October 26, 2023, the CWPP enhances public safety by improving wildfire preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. Through collaboration with local governments, landowners, and emergency responders, ACF’s work helps build a more fire-resilient community.
